**********

WHAT THE FANS THINK is Pencil Tip’s series of books where the fans review and assess their favourite television series. Fan opinion can be extremely critical, often harsher than that of the meanest television critic. But when the fans love something, you know it. Praises are heaped in droves.

Each volume will concentrate on a specific series and will feature original reviews, essays and analysis of every episode of that particular series. The fans will have their say on what they think are the best, worst and merely average, episodes of a series. You just might be surprised by what they have to say.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each book will be donated to the Vancouver branch of the BCSPCA (British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).

Update on ‘What The Fans Think’ Projects

Updated May 1, 2020

The What The Fans Think page has been updated today to indicate the latest status of both the Blake’s 7 and Torchwood projects.

WTFT: BLAKE’S 7

While we currently have five essays discussing various aspects of Blake’s 7, we’ll still accept additional essays discussing the series.  We’re especially looking for something on Blake.  If you’d like to contribute an essay, or if you’ve got an idea for one, please contact us.

WTFT: TORCHWOOD

Now that we’ve been able to finally catch up with our backlog of material, we’ve been able to turn our attention back to the previously submitted reviews and essays on Torchwood.

As of April 24, we’ve returned several reviews to writers for their revisions.

However, due to several writers dropping out of the project, or for various reasons no longer in contact with us, (as of May 1) we have three Torchwood episodes that we now find we need reviews of.  Those episodes are:

  • Adrift
  • Exit Wounds
  • Children of Earth: Day Four
  • Escape to L.A.
  • The Middle Man

If you’d like to review one of these stories, please get in touch with us.  We’re also looking for additional essays discussing any aspect of Torchwood.  If you’d like to contribute an essay, or if you’ve got an idea for one, please contact us.

*******

If you have not received an email from us requesting edits, you can assume your review required no revisions, and that it’s ready for publication in the book.

What The Fans Think Status Update

The “What The Fans Think” page has been updated today to indicate the latest status of both the “Blake’s 7” and “Torchwood” projects.

The Blake’s7 volume is progressing along at a steady pace, while work continues apace on the Torchwood volume.

Regarding the Torchwood volume, you’ll notice that several stories have become available once again for review.  (Those stories available for review are bolded blue text.) If you’d like to review one of these stories, please get in touch with us.

A large percentage of the submitted reviews have now been edited and are either ready for publication or have been sent back to the author for revisions.  If you have not received an email from us regarding your review, we are still editing these reviews and you will be hearing from us in the coming weeks.

If you have not received an email from us requesting edits, you can assume your review required no revisions, and that it’s ready for publication in the book.

Status Update: What the Fans Think: Torchwood

Due to conflicting scheduling with various projects, we have decided to delay publication of What The Fans Think: Torchwood until sometime in 2020. In the meantime, despite the delay, work will continue behind the scenes.  If you had contributed a essay or review for publication, you can still expect to hear from us in due time should your piece require any revisions and/or edits.

Please note that this delay does not affect the What The Fans Think: Blake’s 7 book which will still see publication in very early 2020.
